MMORPG Blog

I found a new MMORPG blog that I like a lot. It's part of the new MMORPG blog network and after browsing the blogs on the site I think it's a great concept. All of the content from each user is correlated and easy to look at. Nice work MMORPG.com.

Crysis Cometh - A New FPS

Crysis is the new FPS from EA set to release Nov. 16 and it looks gorgeous. I have been watching the awesome CryENGINE 2 engine that the game uses for a long time and it looks pretty bad ass. If you play shooters then Crysis is something you can't miss. I am also looking forward to Quake Wars Enemy Territory but I have to say Crysis looks like it will take the cake.

Halo 3 For PC

OH Microsoft why have you forsaken us. We have bought all of your operating systems for most of our computerized lives. We have conformed to the use of Microsoft office even though we disagreed with your business practices.

WE PLAYED HALO FOR YEARS IN THE LARGEST TOURNAMENTS IN THE WORLD. WE BUY YOUR THINGS WHY ARE YOU CUTTING PC GAMERS OUT OF THE HALO 3 FUN???

To perform the exact same stunts in the PC gaming market that they have in the other markets they participate in. They are trying to force PC gamers to buy their shitty new OS that doesn't work right to play Halo 3.

Here's an article all about the Halo 3 For PC contreversy. If you want to check out some really cool Halo online advertising check out youtube for the newest trailers!

2Moons Class Guides

For those o you that might not know 2Moons is a free MMORPG from Accalim. The Fantasy fiction title is a pretty cool game but as it is a Korean port it is definately a grind fest. The term grind means leveling up your character and grindfest means it takes a ridiculous amount of time to do so. 2Moons class guides are being published all over the place so if you are going to play then do your research.

World In Conflict - A New RTS

I have been playing the new RTS from Games for Windows developed by Sierra and Massive called World of Conflict for a couple days now. I am really enjoying the game. I usually play MMORPG's but I also play RTS's and shooters. The last great RTS was Age of Empires 2 in my opinion although there have been some other mediocre titles since then including AOE 3 and Company of Heroes.

Here's a great World In Conflict review check it out.

Vanguard Second Try?

As we all know the highly touted 3rd gen MMORPG Vanguard: Saga of Heroes developed by Sigil and released by Sony was a totqal failure. So many things contributed to the game crashing and burning that I don't even feel like going into it. I talked about it until my face turned blue the first time around.

At any rate Vanguard has just merged servers and patched most of the major bugs that infuriated the player base. Is it time to take another look at Brad McQuiad's baby? Maybe so, I'll hop in and check it out and let everyone know what the I find.

2Moons MP3 Player Guide

MMOStrategyguides.com published a sweet little guide to the 2Moons MP3 player today. It a ppears to be a straight forward player with no restrictions. I really enjoy in-game mp3 players and so does anyone else hwo uses voice comms and gets tired of windowing out all the time to adjust volumes and what not.

Here a link to the full 2Moons MP3 player guide .

2Moons Guides and First Look Review

MMOStrategyGuides.com has been publishing 2Moons guides almost daily and it seems the rest of the fan sites are putting some time into the game as well. I have played the game through about 50 levels and I have to say it is the most fun I have had in a free fantasy-fiction MMORPG.

2Moons is a version of a popular Korean game so right off the bat you know it's gonna be a grinder. There are some quests but as far as leveling your toon goes it's an EXP grind. I wet my teeth in the early days of the MMORPG so I personally prefer the grind. Max level cap is 150 and I would guess the time to cap is similar to time to cap in Lineage 2. If you played L2 you know just how long this grind is going to be.

2Moons is supported by an item mall. I don't like item mall games and never have but it doesn't ruin the game. You can buy the normal array of items including EXP amulets that grant up to 30% EXP bonus.

There are instanced dungeons in 2Moons. At the lower levels they are solo instances and I believe the first group instance is at 60.

The server system in 2Moons is pretty unique. They have what Acclaim terms as "server groups". This means that your data is stored across a group of servers. For example if a room you what to grind in is camped you can log into another server in your group to see if it's open. The server groups also have some negatives. All comms except guild chat are bound to the particular server you are on and are not global. In my opinion this hinders the ability of the community to grow. Another downside for me is the inability to control a zone. While most would see this as a bonus I'm sure being from an old school PVP guild we are accustom to finding where we want to be and locking it down. We find other decent guilds with the same goals and come to terms as of the asshats that are barred entrance.

The Deadfall expansion is coming pretty soon according to official statements by acclaim to include among other things the siege battle system. For most of us 2Moons is a prelude to one of the larger 3rd gen titles like Age of Conan, WAR, or Darkfall so the siege system will determine whether or not we continue to play.

At any rate 2Moons is a great free MMORPG and we are enjoying it.
